Why the strain matters
Probiotics are named in three parts: the genus, the species and the strain. In Lactobacillus reuteri LRDR™, LRDR™ is the strain. Those last letters matter. Research found for one strain does not automatically apply to another, even within the same species.
That is why we name the exact strain in every jar, and why each strain has its own guide with the research behind it.
Start with your goal
The simplest way to choose is to start with what you care about most:
- Sleep, mood and skin: L. reuteri LRDR™, the Love Maker.
- Digestion after meals: Bacillus subtilis HU58™, the Digestive Helper.
- Immunity and a settled stomach: B. longum BB536, the Gut Guardian.
- Weight and women's health: L. gasseri BNR17™, the Belly Burner.
- A sensitive gut: B. infantis EVC001, the Guardian Infant.
- Regularity: L. casei Shirota, the Mood Lifter.
The six strains at a glance
L. reuteri LRDR™: the Love Maker
The strain that started Bacilibloom, and the one Dr. William Davis recommends in his book Super Gut. Research on L. reuteri has looked at oxytocin, the hormone tied to calm and connection, as well as skin and bone. Customers usually describe smoother digestion, deeper sleep and a lighter mood.
Choose it if sleep, mood or skin matter most to you, or you want to start where most of our customers start. Read the L. reuteri LRDR™ guide.
Bacillus subtilis HU58™: the Digestive Helper
A spore-forming probiotic, so it survives stomach acid well. It supports the last stage of digestion by increasing the gut's production of digestive enzymes such as amylase, protease and lipase.
Choose it if you often feel heavy or bloated after meals. Read the Bacillus subtilis HU58™ guide.
B. longum BB536: the Gut Guardian
First isolated in 1969, with one of the longest safety records of any probiotic strain. It has been studied for digestion, immunity and seasonal allergies, including a study of Malaysian preschool children whose sore throats were 46% shorter.
Choose it if you want steady, everyday support for immunity and a settled stomach. Read the B. longum BB536 guide.
L. gasseri BNR17™: the Belly Burner
Clinical studies on BNR17™ have found reductions in visceral fat and waist size in adults. L. gasseri is also one of the main lactobacilli in a healthy vaginal microbiome.
Choose it if weight, appetite or women's health is your main focus. It works best alongside good food and regular movement, not instead of them. Read the L. gasseri BNR17™ guide.
B. infantis EVC001: the Guardian Infant
A bifidobacterium that evolved to digest the sugars in breast milk. In studies in infants it settled well in the gut and lowered markers of inflammation. Research in adults is still early.
Choose it if you have a sensitive gut or react to foods others tolerate easily. Read the B. infantis EVC001 guide.
L. casei Shirota: the Mood Lifter
One of the most widely studied probiotic strains in the world, in fermented milk since 1935. It is best known for regularity, and has also been studied for stress and sleep during exams.
Choose it if keeping regular is your main concern. Read the L. casei Shirota guide.
If you have more than one goal
Pick the one that matters most to you right now. Each jar is made with one strain, and you can choose a different strain every time you order. Many goals also overlap: a calmer gut often brings better sleep, mood and energy with it.
Still not sure?
Start with L. reuteri LRDR™. It is the strain that started Bacilibloom and the one most of our customers first come to us for. A 100g jar is an easy way to try it before committing to a bigger size.
You can also message us on WhatsApp at +60 19-517 5035 and tell us what you are hoping for. We are happy to help you choose.
What to expect
None of these strains works overnight. Eaten regularly, they work quietly in the background, and the effects build up over time. Keep your yogurt in the chiller section of your fridge, where it keeps for 4 weeks.
Our yogurt is not suitable for children. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a weakened immune system or a medical condition, check with your doctor first.
Order your yogurt
Once you know your strain, choose your yogurt and size. You select your strain on the order form, and we ferment it into your jar slowly for 36 hours in A2 milk, with nothing else added.
